Code Of Conduct

1. Short Version

At Search Pioneer, we're committed to providing a positive experience for everyone, regardless of their age, caste, citizenship, disability, education, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, immigration status, level of experience, neurodiversity, physical appearance or body size, nationality, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, race, or religion (or lack thereof).

To help maintain the integrity of the Search Pioneer community, we have established some guidelines that we ask all members to follow. These include being considerate, patient, respectful, and kind; communicating effectively; and asking for help when you need it.

Search Pioneer does not tolerate certain types of behavior at our events or online spaces. These behaviors include deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following; harassing photography or recording at events; sustained disruption of online discussions, talks, or other events; harassment of people who don't drink alcohol; sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist language or otherwise exclusionary language; unwelcome sexual attention or behavior that contributes to a sexualized environment; unwelcome physical contact; violence or threats of violence; bringing a weapon to a Search Pioneer event; or influencing or encouraging inappropriate behavior.

2. Scope

Our community's commitment to a safe and respectful environment extends to all Search Pioneer online forums, including mailing lists, wikis, websites, code repositories, IRC channels, and Slack communities. The Search Pioneer Community Code of Conduct is designed to promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members, and may be applied to private communication that includes harassment, stalking, discrimination, threats, or any other behavior that poses a risk to the physical or mental well-being of our members.

The Search Pioneer Community Code of Conduct is also applicable to all Search Pioneer events, including official events, meetups, trainings, workshops, and unofficial gatherings. The Code of Conduct is enforced at all event-related social events and venues, and all attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and organizers are expected to adhere to its guidelines. Our organizers are dedicated to ensuring that the Code of Conduct is upheld throughout each event.

We believe that all participants in Search Pioneer online and event spaces share our commitment to creating a safe and respectful community for everyone.

Together, we can ensure that our forums and events are inclusive, supportive, and free from harassment or discrimination.

3. Experience

At Search Pioneer, we are committed to ensuring that everyone has a positive experience, irrespective of:

• Age
• Body size or physical appearance
• Caste
• Citizenship or immigration status
• Disability or chronic illness
• Education level
• Ethnicity or cultural background
• Gender identity or expression
• Level of experience or expertise
• Nationality
• Neurodiversity or cognitive differences
• Race or skin color
• Religion or belief system (including lack thereof)
• Sexual orientation or romantic attraction
• Socioeconomic status or financial means

4. Community

To ensure that the Search Pioneer community remains a great space for communication, collaboration, and contribution, we have a set of community guidelines that we ask all members to follow. We believe that explicitly stating these guidelines will lead to a positive experience for everyone involved. Even when the guidelines are unclear, we expect all community members to follow their spirit.

Here are our community guidelines:

• Be considerate. Remember that your work will be used by others, and that you will also rely on the work of others. When making decisions, take into account how they might impact users and colleagues.
• Be patient. In forums, mailing lists, and other asynchronous forms of communication, it's important to remember that many community members and organizers are volunteers. It's possible that your question or contribution might not receive an immediate response. Be patient, and try to adhere to the norms of the community. One reminder ping is welcome, but multiple reminder pings in rapid succession are not. Additionally, posting the same question in multiple threads is discouraged.
• Be respectful. Disagreements are natural, but it's important to remember that they don't excuse poor behavior or manners. We expect all members of the Search Pioneer community to treat each other with respect and courtesy, even when they disagree.
• Be nice. Please treat your fellow community members with courtesy, respect, and kindness.
• Communicate effectively. Clear communication can help to prevent misunderstandings. Remember that different people may interpret words and phrases differently depending on their backgrounds. When in doubt, ask for clarification rather than making assumptions. Disagreements, whether social or technical, are normal, but we expect participants to resolve them constructively. Please avoid flame wars, trolling, personal attacks, and repetitive arguments.
• Ask for help when unsure. Nobody is expected to be perfect in this community. If you're unsure about something, please ask for help early on to avoid problems later. When someone asks you for help, please be responsive and helpful in return.

5. Behaviour

We want all participants in the Search Pioneer community to have the best possible experience they can. In order to be clear about what that means, we've provided a list of examples of behaviors that are inappropriate for Search Pioneer community spaces:

• Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
• Harassing photography or recording at events. If someone says they do not want a picture or video taken of them, respect that choice. If they ask you to delete or remove a picture taken without permission, do so. Photographers (even paid event photographers) following or stalking attendees in order to get photographs not acceptable. Attendees are expected to always seek permission before taking a picture. Crowd shots where attendees' faces are not visible are acceptable. Speakers can tell event organizers if they do not want their talk recorded.
• Sustained disruption of online discussion, talks, or other events. Sustained disruption of events, online discussions, or meetings, including talks and presentations, will not be tolerated. This includes 'talking over' or 'heckling' event speakers or influencing crowd actions that cause hostility in event sessions. Sustained disruption also includes drinking alcohol to excess or using recreational drugs to excess, or pushing others to do so.
• Harassment of people who don't drink alcohol. We do not tolerate derogatory comments about those who abstain from alcohol or other substances. We do not tolerate pushing people to drink, talking about their abstinence or preferences to others, or pressuring them to drink - physically or through jeering.
• Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist language or otherwise exclusionary language. If you're unsure if a word is derogatory, don't use it.
• Unwelcome sexual attention or behavior that contributes to a sexualized environment. This includes sexualized comments, jokes or imagery in interactions, communications, or presentation materials, as well as inappropriate touching, groping, or sexual advances. Sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Meetup organizing staff and other volunteer organizers should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
• Unwelcome physical contact. This includes touching a person without permission, including sensitive areas such as their hair, pregnant stomach, mobility device (wheelchair, scooter, etc) or tattoos. This also includes physically blocking or intimidating another person. Physical contact or simulated physical contact (such as emojis like "kiss") without affirmative consent is not acceptable. This includes sharing or distribution of sexualized images or text.
• Violence or threats of violence. Violence and threats of violence are not acceptable - online or offline. This includes incitement of violence toward any individual, including encouraging a person to commit self-harm. This also includes posting or threatening to post other people's personally identifying information ("doxxing") online.
• Bringing a weapon to a Search Pioneer event. No weapons are allowed at event venues, including but not limited to explosives (including fireworks), guns, and large knives such as those used for hunting or display, as well as any other item used for the purpose of causing injury or harm to others.
